Permlight Introduces Patented Twiste'R - the Big Solution for Small Letters

Tustin, CA � July 1, 2003� Permlight Products, the industry leading supplier of thermally managed LED systems, announced today that is has introduced its latest line of LED sign lighting systems called Twiste�R^TM.  The Twiste�R lighting system features the company�s patented (U.S. Patent US 6,578,986) dispenser system of providing products on reels and its method of heatsinking LEDs  codenamed �LoTemp� which ensures long reliable operating life.  The new series also features Permlight exclusive �WideView� 180� viewing angle technology that allows for �any orientation mounting� � on a back wall or side wall�and  can fit channel letters and fabricated plastic letters under 6� and with strokes as narrow as ��. Additionally, the excellent diffusion of Twiste�R allows for halo lit letters to be mounted as close as �� from the mounting surface while ensuring uniform light distribution.

 The Twiste�R PL752-XXX Series is originally offered in ruby red (630nm), blue (470nm), and white. Additional colors including green, blue, orange, cyan, and amber are scheduled for release early fall 2003.  The new LED module is a 12Vdc system with physical dimensions of 0.625� wide by 1.0� long and 1/16� tall.  The modules come pre-wired (20 gauge UL Class 2 power limited wire) with 3.0� spacing, or 3 modules per foot. Twiste�R is available in 50 and 200 piece reels using Permlight�s patented packaging technique.

 Twiste�R�s universal 12Vdc system is designed to be mixed and matched with the company�s DSL (Second Generation Direct Light) line with equivalent brightness per foot for signs that combine large channel letters and small subtext in the same application. Combined together with Advance Transformer/Philips 12Vdc signPro^TM LED driver line Permlight�s Twiste�R is the most mechanically flexible, lowest cost per foot, easiest to install (peel-n-stick installation) LED channel letter lighting system on the market.

 Twiste�R also features Permlight�s new long life corrosion resistant coating designed for exposed applications in halo lit channel letter or lit exposed foam applications.

 About �LoTemp^TM� Heat Management System

The Twiste�R family of products incorporates Permlight�s �LoTemp� patented technology which ensures that every LED component runs well within its safe operating temperature both at room temperature (25�C) and in extreme environments (60�C).  The increase in application temperatures from 25�C to 60�C can sometimes subject competing LED systems that have a room temperature LED junction temperature of 65-85�C to operate outside the safe operating temperature range when subjected to extreme environments.  Signs installed in high temperature geographic areas can reach internal temperatures of 60�C. It is recommended by LED component manufacturers and LED system manufacturers that to ensure a long (5-10 year) reliable lifetime that the LED junction temperature should not exceed 85�C.
